A Zodiac Brave Story
Sunday, August 02, 2009 @ 401
The movie sequel Matrix presents us a very pausible and sceptical doubt that we might be victims of a whole scale of illusion like that allegory of Plato's cave. In the film, the hero Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, was spared the indignity of having no body. He thought he was living in the real world when,in fact, his brain was simply being fed information to present that illusion. In reality, he was in a pod, immersed in a kind of amniotic fluid.

Is the world we live in just a figment of our imagination?

The reality of the physical world can be doubted as there being a higher power that fools us into believing that false is obviously true. We may see it as obvious and self evident that seven follows after six, but to a person under hypnosis , he can be made to think that it is obvious and self evident that eight follows after six. What if there is a really a higher power making us believe whatever false to be obviously true like that of a person under hypnosis?

The claim that we feel physical pain only strengthen, not weakened, the claim that reality is only a figment of our imagination. We could be programmed right from the start to feel this physical pain we get when someone punch us in the face- that of the same scenario in the movie Matrix. In fact we simply accept everything that life present us at face value-accept uncritically received wisdom and the only way to escape from this ordinary illusion is through sacred drugs or practice meditation. For all we know, those whom we cast off as insane or mad could be the ones who truly freed themselves from this illusionary reality that we all lived in. Of course that would come with the question as to how we can distinguish deluded fools who have madworld view from those who genuinely discovered an unseen dimension of life that has eluded us.

If the world really is just a figment of our imagination, then arent our lives nothing more than dreams? After all, the phenomenon of false awakening is possible, so how do we know when have we really woke up from our dreams? Some may argue that dreams are more fractured and disjointed while reality is unravelling slow and consistent. But we may also get so more recognition of the events happening in our dreams than in reality. We can also be equally convinced that dreams is not fractured and disjointed that it actually makes sense. In fact, our conscious self could be the dream we are living in and that we are only truly living in our dreams when we sleep.
